i have been using silicone fluid since the early 70's. the federal govt when
bringing vehicles in for service back then, even old postal jeeps etc
,specified and supplied the brake fluid as silicone. after i saw that i was able to
find and buy a gallon from somewhere in ohio thru an ad in hemmings. been
using it in everything except abs systems since with absolutely no troubles,
including heavy boat trailers and rv trailers with servo brake systems. my old
spyder convert probably has the same stuff in it since then also. i feel that if
silicone brake fluid was in the green brier i watched drive into the side of
mt equinox in 1979 after loosing the pedal (with injuries) it would not have
happened. fc's and early vettes are very prone to overheating brake fluid.
been there ,done that, and it aint a good feeling.
