<VV> Starting Fluid

Not to mention that you could blow the heads off the car.... Seen it done on
a John Deere farm tractor when the starting fluid button stuck open and
sprayed most of a can into the motor, a nasty sight.

Hi Alesia

A possible reason is the gas evaporated out of the carbs.

How many times do you pump the gas pedal before you try to start the car??

Remember, your Vair has Carbs, not fuel injection. Fuel injected cars are
recommended not to depress the gas pedal at all before starting.

The Eastern Ultra Monza has Steve Goodman rebuilt carbs on them, and they
operate flawlessly. and the engine will fire immediately after turning the
key----as long as I pump the gas pedal 4 times before turning that key.
When I had the 140 in the old rustbucket Monza, I would open the engine lid,

trip the secondaries, then pump the gas about 10 times and hit the key.

I also recommend letting your engine warm up for 3-5 minutes before heading
out on the street. Not recommended or necessary for a fuel injected car,
but gives the chokes time on a Vair to open, and the carbs to operate
normally.

I also do not recommend the use of starting fluid in a Vair, or any other
car as a regular thing. Not necessary, and can cause nasty flashbacks, hair
singes and burns.

Works for me, your mileage may vary

Regards
HANK
