Coz' we is to ignant to undastand the pump doohickey...

Seriously, there is no self-serve gas in Oregon, but they don't check
your oil/water like they did in '64 - you're on your own for that. If
you ask to do it yourself, they will usually hand you the hose and let
you. I always pump my own on the motorcycle. For some reason they think
it's OK if they take the hose off the pump and hand it to you. Makes 'em
feel useful, I guess.

Subject: <VV> Oregon Laws?

I have been told that Oregon is one of only two states that have a law
forbidding motorists to fuel
their own vehicles. The other being New Jersey.

I don;t know if this is true or if it is what the reason is... (perhaps
scarcity of jobs?) but if so this
is something to think about. If you have a motor home make certain the
fuel is added to the correct
place.

Do you own under hood checks on your vehicles (Corvairs particularly)

I once just stopped an "attendant" from adding water to my cooling
system in my 62 Monza coupe (this
was 1964) even thought clearly embossed on the cap is said "OIL.

Take no chances.

I wanna see everyone get there.

If this is true could someone in Oregon explain why? Or someone from New
Jersey?
