Hi,
Despite all my concerns about possibly having car "issues" (due to a severe overheating of my water pumper tow vehicle on another 600 mile trip two weeks ago) there were NO issues to report. Other than getting caught in huge traffic in downtown Portland, which took an hour to cross town, the trip went very well. The Greenbrier took all the hills in stride and remaining quite cool. This is with a relatively unproven 66 110 smog engine, which had only been driven around town for a couple of weeks. I had several wheel, axle and U-joint issues to resolve just prior to the trip and it all worked out fine. As usual, I carried around enough spare to equip a fleet, just in case. Who knew, I might have run into a dozen broken down Corvairs along the route! LOL.

Looking forward the the convention really getting started.

BTW, the weather today is WONDERFUL. Maybe it is like this all the time!? Or not!!

Interesting side note:
The gasoline in OR appears to be MUCH better than CA. Just a guess, but looking at the Safeguard's lean/rich gauge, the OR premium is richer than the CA garbage. Sometimes the CA mid-grade fuel was running VERY lean, but once it had a couple of tanks of OR premium fuel it was actually running just shy of rich. And this was registering the same on both carbs. I think the gas mileage might have improved too.

Larry
