Hi Head lite doctors
No matter where the problem lies, dimmer switch or connector or even the
headlight switch itself, it has a good chance to return at a later date.
The solution is to install a pair of relays that will carry the headlight
current instead of the switches. This is especially important if you
upgrade to headlights with a higher wattage i.e. Halogens etc. Use the
dimmer to switch the relays and run a heavy gauge wire from the main power
buss to the relays. You'll get mucho brighter headlights outta the deal.

Don't be surprised to discover that the connectors at the dimmer switch are
very corroded, and the plastic plug has melted due to the resulting bad
connection. I've had to repair/replace a couple of these over the years.
Actually, you may find the switch is OK, and it's only the terrible
condition of the connector that's making your Vair imitate a British sports
car.
