Hey guys,
I have been thinking... and yes, I know it's a bad habit, but...
For Corvair cars that never came with an a/c unit (I have one) I've
been thinking pondering and wondering if the following would work:
(Purists plug your ears now)
Buy an after market a/c-heater unit. Vintage air makes a great little
one that I think would be the correct size.
Remove the plastic tunnel. Take an oil cooler unit or two and build a
muffler into a heat exchanger. Build or open an existing muffler and
remove the baffles. Then mount the oil cooler unit inside the muffler
housing. New directional baffles would probably need to be made. Run
soldered or brazed lines through the end walls of the muffler housing
and connect the lines to hose that would then run through the tunnel in
place of the plastic tunnel. Into the passenger compartment and up to
the vintage air unit. Place an inline electric motor that is switched
so that it only circulates the water when you want warm air. Maybe a
small reservoir unit might be needed, I don't know.

Please flame now! ;op
