It's too bad that powder coating is out this time. I paid roughly $100 or
so to have EVERY piece of engine related sheetmetal, brackets, etc
sandblasted and powdercoated. If it originally came from the factory black,
I had it powdercoated.

I painted shrouds on my first rebuild of this engine and I can tell you; it
was both more expensive than powdercoating and MUCH less durable. Get a gas
spill on your nice painted shrouds and you'll see what I mean. On powder
coating, everything simply wipes off and it looks as good as new.

If powder coating is out because you think it is more expensive.. you should
look around before making the decision to go with paint. I believe it will
be a decision you will regret.
