Until you can make a proper fix for the vapor lock (is your mechanical pump 
okay?), splash some cold water on the fuel lines and be on your way. 

You might install an in-line electric pump that's activated by a switch on 
the dash or in the engine compartment, and use it when necessary. But constantly 
running hecklectric pumps cause more problems than they solve, IMO.
