In what year (or was it midyear) did Corvair heads first have the AIR ports 
? Might make converting to FI much simpler.

Purpose of EGR is for charge cooling and dilution which results in lowered 
NOX. Since this is a prime component of SMOG it is a good thing however 
think the emissions from all of the Corvairs in the world is less than that 
from cows.

When EGR first came out on carb-equipped cars in 1973, hot rodders quickly 
found out that just removing the EGR did bad things to gas mileage. This 
was because the carburetors were fitted with richer jets (Q'Js got 73s and 
75s instead of 70s) to compensate. The exercise is left to the student.
