<VV> Starter woes when engine hot ...

I know it is an re-occuring thread, but I can't remember the remedy details:

The starter on my 62 wagon needs in general a good battery to start
turning, but anytime works fine when engine is cold. Engine hot, then
no cranking ... the solenoid switch has to be cleaned??

PS: We Karlsruhe/Germany Corvair guys were too busy (lazy) to attend
