Sure sounds like the filter needs replacing....remember auto trannys  self 
destuck...slowly  by design...slipping automatically!  Don't worry about the 
debris....

Ultra way=      buy rubber plug for making a drain......poke hole...save 
fluid...pull pan...CLEAN  filter....  Refill test-drive...

and no,  NEW  fluid is GOOD
