At one time correct, now just reverse

for reasons unknown, Ford often times ended up with a situation where the
engineers would use a certain group size battery, (say a 24) but they also
engineered the cables to be in different locations than the other vehicles
using that group size, to the terminals had to be reversed.

The reason that the F was a Ford designator is obvious from the group sizes
involved. Group 24, 36, and 58 were all common Ford battery group sizes, and
all can be found with a reverse polarity model noted with an F.

Other reverse polarity batteries (such as used in Hondas) are marked reverse
polarity with an R. Ex GP 51R.

Most Counter people will tell you that the F designator changes the polarity
of that group size, but most cant tell you why (G)

GM popular Group sizes were 22, 26, and 27 (in trucks).
