He sent this response roughly 4 hours after I posted the problem
Thanks everyone for the great responses... since this was a new car to our
family, I needed to check EVERYTHING that everyone pointed out anyway... so
all of your suggestions were useful!

Thanks again everyone... I'll post the picture of the melted venturi cluster
here in a few minutes.
