Joe,

I would like to thank you for asking the question, following through with
the diagnostic, and posting the source of the problem. In doing this you
have taught some of us to be "Mr. Obvious" in our own search for the cause
of a problem.

Keith Hammett

Oh and Mr. Obvious not everyone has your great talents when working on vairs
or other cars for that matter. What is obvious to one is a disaster to
another, I recall the collapse of the cross walk in Kansas City. Something
that was obvious got overlooked, should not have happened and wasted more
than just bandwidth. No lives were harmed in Joes question, unlike the
obvious mistake in the crosswalk (if it's not obvious to you then email me
off list). Lighten up! At least it wasn't the early vs late, type of brake
fluid, disk or drum, top up or down, pg tow or not to tow, shroud or not to
shroud...debates that consume so much more bandwidth.

I didn't realize that Chuck sent this to the entire list... I replied to him
in private because I thought he sent this in private. Here is my reply to
him:

Interesting take on the situation.

My take is a little different.

I suspect that while you may consider it a waste of bandwidth... I consider
it a learning experience and I'm guessing many other folks consider it the
same.

Without knowing you personally, I'll not take this email the wrong way.
I'll assume that you would have caught such a flaw... I didn't, and it
wasn't obvious to me.

I'm not sure what you mean by what happened on VV... nothing happened more
than a discussion with roughly 20 emails written.

I hope you are normally a more forgiving person than you came off in this
email.

Regards,

Joe
