Weight. I suspect the PO or one before him, thought the van wallowed in an 
up and down motion-"heave" - and he felt that stabilized it.

I am interested in the increased camber in that van.  Had one like that in 
the past and no one at the time could provide a satisfactory answer as to 
"Why"..
