Yep! Although propane will work too. The stuff I am thinking of (and I  can't 
remember the name if it) melts at something like 475F, and isn't anywhere  
near as tough to melt as say, SilPhos brazing rod for refrigeration apps.

This is absolutely correct and a MAPP  Gas torch will do the job on 3/4'  
copper pipe which is
as big as  most of us will ever need
