What Bob said is very true. The air needs to pass over something to pull  the 
heat out. Removing the flash is a good thing but removing additional  
material can be bad, very bad. As the flash is removed the head  temperatures will 
come down. If material is removed further you'll get to a  point where too much 
area has been removed and then the temperature will go  up.
