Put the tap on pink wire. I use the kind that accepts a spade terminal so
quick disconnect is possible and a #18 wire running around with the harness
and is now installed.
Only had to get taps out once & filing a 1/4" wide x 3/16" deep notch in
cap was not hard but is still pushing grommet extension down.
Started immediately which was good as static timing is no longer possible.
Once sorted out it does seem to idle smoother and cruise misfire is almost
gone (still get an occasional pop - may just need some driving) so does
seem to have been secondary ignition related. Running 12 degrees initial
and stock 110 distributer/advance.
Ultimate goal is to run platinum plugs but right now still have W8ACs
gapped at .030" & stock coil that requires ballast so would guess 30kv max.
Suspect the next step would be a hotter coil but may see how this runs first.
No real baseline yet, only had time for 10 minute drive but engine seems to
be running slightly cooler. Is this typical ?
