since i live about 10 miles from the franklin engine plant and the location
where the frankilin automobile were made i have to make a quick comment. the
franklin car and the franklin engine are 2 different eras entirely. both were
very well made. many prime examples of the car , and a couple of the aircraft
engines are on display at the northeast auto musuem in norwich ny. if you are
close enough , it is a very worthwhile place to visit. they change a portion of
the exhibit every 6 months. the franklin engines (well the smaller ones
anyways ) looked a lot like a vair. the big 6 cyl ones were mamouth beauties. they
used to donate samples etc to school shops in our area back in the 60's. i
did get to visit the factory and watch a test run once back about 65 ..i know of
a 32 ford with one in it in the suffield ct area going to waste.
regards, tim colson
