Jack it up securely and be prepared to carefully shift stuff as you install 
the new one underneath.  I would also recommend some thin work gloves.  If 
you've been dealing with a broken one for years, as I once did, it will be as if 
you own a new car when you are done.  Imagine--heat on demand at the push of a 
button!
