And the Delcotronic ignition was first targetted for the 1962 SD Pontiacs
so development was done by mid-1961. Though AFAIK it became a
Chevrolet/Pontiac option the intent was to make available for all car lines.
When the Delcotronic ignition was fitted on a Pontiac with a tachometer, a
transistorized tach circuit was used in place of the normal passive one.
At the time the mag-impulse Delcotronic was known as a "breakerless"
ignition. I still have an iron 1111040 around here somewhere.
