Just one note. If both valve covers are off, when both valves are tight (in 
overlap) for one cyl, the opposing cyl is ready to adjust. The pairs are 
1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. I used this method to set V-8s cold. (actually if either 
valve is tight, you can adjust but if you insist on being sure...)
