The final cleaning should be with a prep solvent that removes traces of 
grease, fingerprints, and silicones.  DuPont has a nice one in 3901S. 
Use clean rags (w/o softeners) or a wiping paper designed for body shop 
work, e.g., Trail.

BTW, I painted my shrouds with Clark's shroud paint about 20 years ago, 
including bakeout in the oven, and although the engine hasn't been run 
much, they show no change in matte finish or susceptibility to lifting 
from spills.
