I have replied privately to responses received privately about my comments.
  I will not respond on this page to some frivilous remarks, even to correct errors in fact.
  Except for one remark by Lon Wall.
  You should all know (it was published in Communique) that Corsa West of Los Angeles is the chapter hosting the 2008 convention.
  I live in Southern California and will strongly support the 2008 convention, whatever the purpose or format.
  And to all the "old farts" who do not know me, I will be 74 this month and drive in and organize time trials, autocross, economy runs, fun runs, participate in shows and have achieved some success with newsletters and recruiting young members.
  I don't smoke, drink, chew or drool, but I do enjoy a funny story or a cool car.
  I love Corvairs and don't expect a free ride.
  As chapters wither away I think it becomes necessary to build a stronger central organization - and the convention is not just the symbol but also the tool to do it.
  Keep your ideas coming, but please be constructive.
