Gas in the oil can also be due to a failing mechanical fuel pump. Not a good
scene--if it fails dramatically, it can dump a bunch of fuel in the
crankcase in short order.

Well first, Welcome to the list Jeff. We are happy to have you on the list
and although you obviously know quite a bit about Corvairs, this list is
always good for help and plenty of opinions about how to solve a problem.
       We sure wouldn't want to have anything happen  to you or the
#1 Cord because of
fuel problems with that turbo. ANY TIME you have fuel in the oil that is a
problem that needs solving immediately as it is one of the quickest ways to
destroy an engine and may cause an engine fire.
