In and out, yes, on non-posi plate side if posi. Both sides if open diff. 
If you place your hands at 3 and 9 o'clock, and push one or the other and 
pull the other side and get play, that is in the outer bearings. Similarly, 
6 and 12 o'clock.  That is not good.
