Flagstaff, 2002, was also off-sit.  but same site as the autocross.

Renting a sizable convention center can be (is) expensive,  depending on the town.  Blocking off streets , especially during the week, is a feat.  A smaller convention center,  like in 1998,  could work (again)  worthwhile thoughts for whomever wants to host a regional or national convention in the future.
