How about a planetary gear set just outboard of the diff, one on each side
.. would be about the size of a brake drum, and still use the ( maybe
shortened ) half shafts .. uh ... and shortened  uh ... "a" arm ...

could use straight cut gears for cheapness ... uh, a little noisier ...

OH... hey, maybe this thing would run backwards .. let's see, little gears
in big gears x Sq.Rt speed of light... hydraulic factor of 3.14 , and uh ...
help mr transmission guy ...
