Well, I suppose there are two possible factors at play here...

	Timing:  too retarded, incomplete burn, lower manifold vacuum,
possibly causing the YH to enrich, or...
	Ignition/spark quality:  Short duration, more coil saturation
from my friend the Pertronix...  

Sidenote:  

I remember a snake oil type salesguy harping on a device that went
between the coil and the cap high volt wire.  He had a early '60's
chevy.  He had a tach and showed how the RPMs INCREASED when his magic
device was added!  Hmmm, how can that be.  It was a MIRACLE!  
	I bought one and put it on my dad's '66 Ford country sedan.
Seemed to work well (for a week) before it burned out...  A coil
perhaps?
