However, it requires the correct nut on the spindle. It is not the standard  
"Castle" nut with the "parapets- SP?" to allow the cotter pin to go through. 
The  correct nut for the left side has a groove/slot cut into/around in the 
middle of  the nut to allow that pin to snap over and lock the nut, while 
allowing the  speedometer drive cable to pass through the spindle. If the nut you are 
using  looks just like the one on the right side, (i.e. no groove/slot) you 
need to go  find the correct nut. - Seth Emerson
