<VV> AM/FM Radio removal - A/C & Automatic

Got one even harder... and if you do have an A/C car with an automatic
transmission... I highly recommend you loosen the shift selector as it also
gets in the way when you're wiggling an OEM AM/FM unit out.  If you don't do
this, be ready to have a broken plastic connector that houses the neutral
safety switch.

I do have a "workaround" if you decide not to get the selector out of your
way... carry a penny around like I did for many years that I used to "jump"
the neutral safety switch thus allowing the car to actually start.  I told
everyone it was my theft-deterrent device.  And I hope your car starts
quickly as the penny gets hotter, the longer you have to hold it across the
contacts.

And BTW, you will still be a blood donor...

If it is a stock AM-FM radio in a late model, you can get it out - but  it
is 
much easier if you pull the defroster duct down - two top screws and at  
least a pair near the floor as I recall. The AM-FM is a lot bigger than the
AM. 
If you want to have fun sometime, pull the AM-FM out of a car with the Air  
Conditioning duct above it. Blood will be spilled!  -  Seth
