Actually Ryan, there is a school of thought that says any coating on the oil pan and/or valve covers acts like an insulator, causing you to have less cooling capacity for your oil than you could have without the coating.  Whether this will actually cause you harm is up for debate but the oil pan and valve covers will definitely radiate and conduct heat less effeciently with an insulating coating on them.  

They will look prettier though.
