My late father did this.  Following WWII and a stint as a PanAm pilot, he opened a dealership selling foreign cars.  MGs, Hillmans, etc.  It killed him whenever a young couple with a child came in, wanting to buy and MGTD as their only car.  He just couldn't do it.

Finally, he decided that owning a dealership wasn't for him, and he sold it and went to work as an employee at the Chrysler store.  However, from this experience he learned that he simply wasn't cut out for dealing with the general public, or as he described it, "any joker who walked through the door."  He then went into industrial manufacturing, which remained his career for life.
