The problem appears to be a defective speedometer -- or you're not in
fourth gear.  If the tach reads 4,000 and "it wants to go into another
gear", it's pretty clear that you're making considerable rpm.  The only
possibilities I can think of is that your speedometer is defective or
you're not in top gear.  The former appears to be most likely given that
it's wavering and hard to read.

The Spyder is in the 4,000 rpm on the tach reading when I'm pushing it.
It
"wants" to go into another gear, like 5th or 6th, which it doesn't have.
As
Harry pointed out, the decision to not push and sustain the car at
higher
speeds than 55mph is mine and I never wanted to really push.  Again,
it's
possible that I am at 70 + mph, but the speedo is wavering and it's hard
to
get an accurate reading.
