Howdy all, After reading a post by Bill Elliot from the 7/05 BB that unsprung weight on a Corvair is very detrimental to handling, I tried looking up info on wheel weights and am looking to the BB for help. Does anyone know the individual weights of the Hands repos wheel (Clark's lists weight as 15 lbs - not sure if this is shipping or actual weight), the stock steel wheel (NOS Clark's lists weight as 12lbs - again, not sure if this is shipping or actual weight) and the original Minilite wheel (the REAL Magnesium wheels)? Can it be that the OEM steel wheels are lighter than the Hands (or Minilites)? If one is using the same size tire (diameter/revs per mile, whatever) to maintain speedometer accuracy and putting them on the original sized rim (13") and the rim weighs more, is there an advantage to using a "custom" wheel for street driving? Are the Hands repos aluminum construction like most of the "Minilite" knock-offs and are they forged or cast? Interesting thread BTW. Thanks in advance, Robert Hawley -1963 Spyder conv.
