i would think you would short the 2 wires under the dash and add a switch kit 
that had the mount and switch in the tunnel area.  i think there was a jumper 
in the tunnel on powerglides if the plug is there at all.  you may have to 
open up the tape and cut the green wire to add a switch. 4 spds had a wire on 
the switch that would reach into the tunnel area to that plug. to attempt to 
clarify , the 3spds had the switch in the tunnel and the 4 spds had the switch on 
the bottom of the tranny asking to get cleaned off in haylot driving..
