<VV> Door Speakers (cutting the door panel ?)

OK, no one answered the question yet. You cut the holes to let the high 
frequency out. The bass and mid range will penetrate the cardboard and 
vinyl with minor degredation. the highs will be non-existance. You can 
overpower the cardboard but it will sound very muddy, especially to our 
older ears that have reduced high frequency response. Of course I never 
cut holes in the door panels or other distructive surgery, just mount 
small outdoor type speakers under the dash. Or build a new package shelf 
to fit behind the rear seat (except in convertables).
