<VV> How 'bout - rmonic Balancer?

Since harmonic balancer failure seems or is due to loads on outer ring due 
to fan belt loads, what about a quite large pulley that has a recessed inner 
section and the pulley portion is outside the harmonic balancer-in the same 
plane?  Kind of like a cup that fits over the harmonic balancer, leaving the 
outer ring free to do its thing.  The harmonic balancer would mount as it 
does now, and the pulley would mount to the center section of the balancer, 
similar to a A/C or Smog pulley.  The pulley would be larger so the fan 
pulley would need to be enlarged to keep the ratios similar. Might need to 
shim alt and idler outward, but their horizontal plane wouldn't change, 
thereby keeping the belt aligned going into the fan pulley.
