You just painted the car? No ground at the corners of the car - where the
lights need to be grounded to the body.
Dangling wire.. Is this a convert? Courtesy light under the dash? Oh, you
said you have an overhead light. Does it light when you open the doors or
turn the switch full left? Might be the power feed for that. I did not
look at the wiring diagrams - just guessing from your descriptions.
