Chris,

  All it takes are a few miniscule droplets of moisture inside that distributor cap and no more spark until you dry everything off.  

  I have done the same thing.  Hose it out 10 times and never a problem.  The 11th time, no go.  Of course it only gets wet in there when you need/want to drive the car somewhere "right now"!!
