Congratulations!

This is a case where theory was trumped by experience. Experience is a
great thing, and why VV is invaluable as a whole.

Glad eveything worked out in the end.

No. I just didn't want the darn thing in there. Did I hope it would make a difference? Heck yes. After all I had taken advice from the masters. I had taken advice from the knowledgible, and I had taken advice from the idiots. I tried everything offered and none of it had the slightest effect. One thing I did notice as I was having my problem, the masters were strangely silent. A couple reminded me that I was an idiot for not realizing that the Corvair engine is the same on both sides, mechanically and electrically. Fuel wise, if one side runs, the other side will too.

We all know better than that. gggg The engine is the same on both sides, Right? The cam, crank, and valve trains are symmetrical so we know if we take the running carb off one side and put it on the other side then that side will run too. Right?

Put all the pieces back where they came from. Set the valves cold (like you are supposed to). Put the engine back in the car. Set the timing and filled the carb bowls. Hit the starter and it was running ON BOTH CARBS. Made a quarter turn adjustment on the mixture on one side for balance. Runs good, sounds good.
