By very carefully enlarging the air bleed on top of the venturi  clusters.  
Started will A/F ratios in the 13:1 ranges, and am currently  around 13.5:1. 
Before enlarging bleeds further, I'm considering the ol' BB on  top of the power 
valve trick...just to see what happens; should not affect the  mid-range, 
but...
 
As evidenced by highway mileage jumping from 20 to 23-24mpg, things are  
headed in the right direction.
