I never had problems with my brakes, except the first application of the day - which took more effort. Maybe I just knew what to expect.

I almost lost my car when I took it in for state inspection. I dropped it off at the garage the night before so they could start it first thing in the morning and I could have the car by noon. The "technician" when the inspection was finished backed the car out for a test drive. Being a hotdog, he revved the motors of the cars he worked on then took off with a flourish when ever he moved a car. This time, he revved the Corvair, shot backwards out of the garage and clear across the downward sloping apron tot he garage toward the 4 lane road in front of the station. He was able to stop the car just before it reached the first lane of traffic. I don't know who was sicker - the technician or me. I think he left the adjusters slightly loose when he inspected the rear brakes - maybe figuring that he could adjust them by backing up a few times. That is the only time I ever saw my brakes work poorly. Mine were Velvetouch metallics.

I did go back to that same shop for inspection again and the guy was very gentle with my car after that and he made sure the other workers knew about my brakes.

They always worked for me!
