Used to have to do that periodically on a number of cars. Should be able to
put in first and start the engine (can go a few mph on starter but do not
do that for long, will burn it out.

Shifting without a clutch is something you just have to learn. To shift
from any gear to neutral, let mostly off the gas so the car is neither
accellerating nor decelerating and pull back to neutral. To shift up, take
your foot off the gas and let the engine slow. At the right speed it will
just slip into gear. Once all the way in, accellerate. The learning process
will be noisy.

Downshifting is a bit more tricky. Get into neutral as above then rev the
engine to the right speed for the next lower gear. When the speeds match it
will slide into gear.

Back when first was a non-synchro gear double-clutching was a way of life.
Once at a race when the only trans blew, we just pulled all of the synchro
rings out and ran it as a "crash box". Can be done.

Clutchless shifting was once common in drag racing and tracks were often
littered with little pieces of Muncies (Saginaws mostly stayed together
when they blew)..
