<VV> Corvair Engine Stand

Any guidance on what to do and not to do when fabricating an engine stand?  I intend to test run the engine. Ideally, I would like to make it adaptable to either a complete powertrain, or more likely, just the engine.  So an "engine" stand first, and possibly a powertrain stand.  About to make one and thought I could benefit from the trials and tribulations of these august groups...

Thoughts? Ideas? Guidance? What NOT to do?
