FYI:  From eBay today, I  received an original 1960 Corvair salesman's manual -"Perfection Plus"- that was touting sales talking points  about all the new Chevys and noted that the Corvair section contained the following statement:  "The design of the fuel pump and its location on the cool side of the engine help eliminate vapor lock."  It would appear that Chevrolet had at least thought about the  possibility of VL on the then new Corvair. FWIW - Robert Hawley (1963 Spyder vert in training)
