Hi Chuck,
I understand another approach that will likely work, BUT is NOT stock
appearing is to JB Weld studs in those holes (use long screws you have cut
the heads off of) and use locking nuts. Also that approach works for the
valve covers and engine top cover. The nice thing about that approach is
that it is much less likely to result in a gasket leak and it provides
better access without worrying about stripping the base threads.
