<VV> engine hoist

Howdy Folks,

Just unloaded an engine with my hydraulic engine hoist. Boom would not 
go up all the way. Checked fluid level and bleed the cylinder, still 
only lifts about 1/3 full height. Left the engine hang for 10 minutes 
and it doesn't drop. But still lifts to a point and will not lift any 
farther, just kind of bounces up an 1/8" and then goes back down to 
where it was. Any ideas?
