<VV> RE: WC: Dave Menzies and Corvairs

I agree Dave, but it's a discussion I've been having less and less over the
last few years.

I too got a reply from Mr. Menzies, saying about the same as the others, but
I will note that each was individually written, and not a form reply. In my
reply I provided a few more interesting facts about the Corvair, and my
opinons about what Mr. Nader got right and wrong in UaAS. I reiterated the
invitation to go in a ride in a Corvair, and offered CORSA's services for
fact checking in any future article he might choose to write on the subject.
I also encouraged him to pursue the last lost Corvair, explaining briefly
about #6000 in 1969 saying "What happened to it after that has become an
enduring mystery on par with Amelia Earhart, or D.B. Cooper." Reporters
always love a mystery, eh!

Regards,
Joel

I think we all have to realize that the Corvair was/is an easy target, and
that is not likely to change any time soon. For a guy like Menzies, it is
easy to get away with embellishing the story a bit, as he likely figured
that there would be no-one around to counter his argument. Little did he
know we Corsa guys would give him a knock!

I thought you all would like to see the response I got from David Menzies
regarding his story in the National post and the subsequent response I sent
to him.

"Dear James:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to steer clear of slamming the Corvair in
future pieces. As I've mentioned to a few others, maybe there is a story to
be told examining the other side of the Corvair (i.e., the joys of Corvair
ownership)? I'll pitch this to my editor and see where it goes.

All the best,

David Menzies"

It would be cool if the WCC people in Ontario like Dave could take this guy
for a spin and enlighten him more. Obviously, weather is an issue this time
of year, but as Joel pointed out it may get a story in the Post about the
Corvair and the joy of ownership.

Cheers,
