This is why I said FIX the brakes first.

Yes, I agree with that statement, but have you ever had a female say the 
brakes on a Corvair (properly working!!!) felt unsafe?
I have not in 30 years of driving them and 13 years repairing them.  OK, 
there was the one example I mentioned, but she had already driven the 
van for 30 years before she lost enough leg muscle to keep her out of 
the driver's seat.

And she has not yet driven the car to express her opinion of the 
situation. And he should have it right before she does, to make life 
easier!ggggg

Now if they are not working properly, then yes, complaints will flow and 
action MUST be taken to make life happy.
